I remember it clearly. I was 10 or 11 years old, my father had just returned home from a long day of work, and my mother was cheerfully preparing dinner as always. Everything was going as usual until suddenly, out of the corner of my eye, I saw something flying around a light up in our ceiling. I stood back and watched it carefully. To my dismay, it was a wasp. As most kids my age, I was scared of a lot of things. Clowns, vegetables, darkness… All of those typical things, but more than anything I was afraid of wasps! As you can guess, I totally flipped out! I ran into our living room closet and refused to come out. I left everything I had going for me, my food, my conversation, and my happy evening because of this little wasp! Eventually I came out of the closet and went immediately to bed, despite the fact that it was only about 7:30
A lot of the time I feel like deep inside of our spiritual lives we act the same way. We see one little challenge to the dream God put inside of us, or something difficult that God has asked us to do, and run the total opposite direction, cower in fear and let satan rule what God has proclaimed His. Don’t you realize that nothing is too great for God? That Jesus died, rose again and you can overcome anything in His name? How long will we let silly pointless things satan tries to throw at us steal our joy and prosperity? How long will we allow ourselves to be cut short from our destiny because we won’t stand up and move for what we believe?
The successor of Moses, Joshua went through a similar experience. In tat time God told him this-
Joshua 1:9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
God has power! Don’t run and hide in a closet! Come out come out wherever you are, as see that there is more to life than anxiety ad pain. There is freedom and hope for the future in Christ and his children.
Tell the world that.
